Looking back at the 1st project
It's been over 3 years since this small game was released. This is the 1st attempt at using Unity to make a game, and I got to review this after many years busying with work and focus on study Unity further.
The reason I wasn't able to check this is because I got the job as a programmer at a game company, handling porting, after 2 months of this release.
Reviewing code and structure of the project, it is kind of silly as of my perspective right now. Both in terms of how it is being coded and designed. There are many parts in the project that can be solved or make simpler through techniques such as:
- Singleton manager
- Taking advantages of existing Unity module, functions and events
- Prefab and project structure
- Sprite technical
I decided to return and look at this project and perform a small "modernize" to get the project to current standard, and add a new element in the maze game as a testament for design extension on existing project.
The next update, which I will call it "Escape The Maze 2D rev.1", looking to release it some time in the next few weeks, possibly late May - mid June 2023.
And stay tune, as I'm working on a new game, which will be released for free. A short point-and-click/puzzle-solving game, which I don't have a name yet, hopefully to release it in Q3 2023.
